For students who do not meet the eligibility criteria for Student Support Services, alternative academic assistance is available through ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú CARES (Center for Achievement, Retention, and Enrichment Services). Situated in Spieth Hall 200, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú CARES offers a range of valuable resources, including complimentary tutoring, printing services (with a limit of 10 pages daily) and a supervised study hall as well as unrestricted access to desktops, laptops and tablets on a daily basis.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Writing Center

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Writing Center offers writing assistance to students from any discipline across our campus, and provides an extensive array of services designed to cater to the unique requirements and choices of all our students.

The Mathematics Laboratory

Also known as the Math Lab, the Mathematics Laboratory is a service provided by the College of Natural Science and Mathematics to assist undergraduate students in their mathematical studies.

Resources available:

  • Tutoring in a wide range of courses including Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Pre-Calculus Algebra, Pre-Calculus Trigonometry, and Calculus I
  • Graphing calculators are available for check-out
  • Computers available for tutoring sessions and studying

ADA Accommodations

One of the functions of the Office of Student Advocacy is to assist students who have a documented disability and meet the definition of a person with a disability, as defined in The Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act.  ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú enrolled at the university who seek accommodations must identify with the Office of Student Advocacy by contacting the ADA Coordinator, request accommodations by completing the request for services and accommodations forms, and provide appropriate, current documentation of their disability.  

Julia Tutwiler Library

The Julia Tutwiler Library at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú serves as a vital academic resource, providing students, faculty, and staff with access to a wide range of scholarly materials and services. It offers an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources that support research across disciplines. In addition to its physical holdings, the library provides access to online databases, research guides, and interlibrary loan services. With study spaces, technology, and staff available for assistance, the library fosters a supportive environment for academic success and intellectual growth.

TRIO SSS (Student Support Services)

The TRIO SSS Scholars Program is dedicated to aiding limited-income, first-generation and disabled college students in their educational journey at The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. By offering an integrated suite of academic support services, the program ensures their persistence and successful graduation. Through targeted workshops and classes, students develop essential study skills, while peer tutoring assists in mastering course materials. Additionally, personalized academic and personal counseling nurtures confidence and career and graduate exploration activities broaden horizons. The SSS Scholars Program is equally committed to enhancing the program’s operational environment, ultimately contributing to the overall success of its students.
