ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Research Symposium 2020

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will host its ninth annual University Research Symposium (URS) on Tuesday, March 10. Led by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the event showcases undergraduate and graduate research from ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú and a slate of schools across the region.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s Dr. Lee Stanton and a group of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students will work and study at Dauphin Island Sea Lab for the coming weeks as part of the Sea Lab's University Programs summer session, which kicked off on Monday.

While helping small farms in Alabama, researchers at The University of Alabama and the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú hope to provide agricultural solutions that assist a class of nutritious vegetables to last longer in supermarkets and kitchens.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics has announced a $1.38 million-dollar grant funded by the National Science Foundation for a partnership with Bevill State Community College, Coastal Alabama Community College, Demopolis City Schools, and University Charter School to enhance STEM curriculum for students. Dubbed Project INSPIRE, the project allows for a total of 20 individual scholarships and 13 stipends over five years for those pursuing STEM careers.

In 1989, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú (then Livingston University) became the first public institution in Alabama approved to offer a bachelor of science in athletic training. Now, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú has also become the first approved by its state and national accrediting bodies to offer a master’s degree in athletic training. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú who want to enter the field can even earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in a single program in only five years.
