The University Police Department is located in Craiger House, directly across from Wallace Hall and north of Tiger Stadium on University Drive.
The University Police Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The administrative office is closed on legal holidays and University administrative holidays.Vehicle Registration
Yes. All vehicles operated or parked on ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú property must display a valid ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú parking permit or decal.
To register your vehicle, first have your driver’s license and your vehicle’s make, model, year, color, and license plate number available.

- Log in using your ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú credentials.
- If you are a new user, complete all required account and vehicle information.
- If you are a returning user, select the Person icon, choose My Account, and review or update your information as needed.
- Select Order Permit and choose the appropriate parking permit.
- Complete the required registration information and submit your application.
- Print the temporary permit emailed to you and display it on your dashboard until you receive your permanent parking decal.
After you complete your permit order, you can receive your parking decal in one of two ways:
- Campus Mail: Enter your ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú mailbox or station number in the Shipping Address field during checkout.
- Pickup: If you provide a non-ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú shipping address, your decal will be held for pickup at the University Police Department (UPD), located at 147 University Drive.
Decals are available for pickup Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
First, confirm that you entered your ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú mailbox or station number as the shipping address when placing your order.
If you used a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú mailing address and have not received your decal within 7 business days, contact the University Police Department (UPD) as soon as possible.

To add a new vehicle:
- Click the person icon in the upper-right corner of the homepage.
- Select My Account.
- Click the + (Add Vehicle) icon above your list of registered vehicles.
- Enter your vehicle information and save your changes.
Note: If you have reached the maximum number of vehicles allowed on your account, you will not be able to add another vehicle. Instead, edit an existing vehicle that is no longer driven on campus and update its information before purchasing a permit.
Vehicles cannot be edited while you are ordering a permit. If you need to update your vehicle information, make your changes before starting a new permit order.
To edit a vehicle:
- Click the person icon in the upper-right corner of the homepage.
- Select My Account.
- Locate the vehicle you want to update.
- Click the Edit icon next to the vehicle.
- Save your changes before beginning your permit order.
Yes. Parking decals are available for purchase year-round during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., excluding legal holidays and University administrative holidays. Decals are valid for the current registration period, August 1 through July 31.
Parking on campus is limited, and purchasing a parking decal does not guarantee a parking space. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicle operators are responsible for locating a legal parking space.
Yes. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students, University Charter School students, and employees may obtain a temporary parking pass by registering online through the Driver Portal.
- Visit the .
- Log in using your ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú username and password.
- Select Apply for a Permit.
- Complete your registration and submit your online payment.
- Print your temporary parking pass.
Temporary parking passes are intended for temporary vehicle changes, such as when your primary vehicle is being repaired or you are driving a spouse’s, parent’s, or other temporary replacement vehicle. They are not intended for guest use.
Eligible ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú and University Charter School students and employees may receive up to three temporary parking passes per year after completing their initial vehicle registration. Temporary parking passes may not be transferred between vehicles, and each vehicle must be registered.
After all temporary parking passes have been used, a parking decal must be purchased for the additional vehicle.
No. Parking decals are assigned to a specific registered vehicle and are not transferable. If you regularly drive more than one vehicle to campus, each vehicle must be registered and display its own parking decal. Decals should not be removed from one vehicle and placed on another.
If you permanently replace your vehicle (for example, by purchasing a new vehicle), you may update your vehicle registration information and transfer your parking registration to your new vehicle through the University Police Department or the online vehicle registration system.
Citations
There are two types of parking citations: warnings and tickets.
Warning Citations
A warning citation does not include a fine. Review the Parking Rules and Regulations to avoid future citations:
Tickets
If you receive a ticket that includes a fine, you have two options:
- Pay the fine, or
- Submit an appeal.
Appealing a Citation
Before submitting an appeal:
- Review the Parking Rules and Regulations, including the appeal guidelines and the list of unacceptable grounds for appeal.
- If your situation qualifies, submit your appeal through the .
- The Driver Portal link is printed on the bottom of your citation and is also sent to the email address associated with your registered vehicle.
Please note: Appeals must be submitted through the Driver Portal. Appeals submitted by email or phone cannot be accepted.
Parking citations must be paid within five business days of the citation’s issuance using one of the following methods:
Online
- Visit the .
- Enter your citation number and license plate number, or log in using your ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú credentials.
- Payment may be made by credit or debit card.
In Person at the University Police Department
- Visit Craiger House, 147 University Drive.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:45 p.m.
- Payments accepted: Cash or check only (checks should be made payable to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú).
Through Student Accounts
- Pay in person by cash, check, or credit/debit card.
- Credit/debit card payments are also accepted by phone at (205) 652-3841.
Uniform Traffic Citations and Uniform Non-Traffic Citations and Complaints
These citations must be paid through the City of Livingston Municipal Court, located at 201 Church Street.
Yes. Parking citation fines must be paid within five business days of either:
- The date the citation was issued, or
- The date you are notified of the Parking Appeals Committee’s decision, if you submitted an appeal.
Weekends and university holidays are not included in the five-day payment period.
If payment is not received within the required timeframe, a one-time $10 late fee will be added to the citation.
To appeal a parking citation, visit the  and enter your citation number and license plate number.
Appeals must be submitted within 72 hours of the citation’s issuance.
After you submit your appeal through the Driver Portal, the following process will take place:
- Appeals are reviewed by the Parking Appeals Committee, which consists of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú faculty and students who are not affiliated with the University Police Department (UPD).
- The committee reviews appeals every Friday. Appeals submitted earlier in the week will be reviewed at the next Friday meeting.
- All appeals are reviewed anonymously.
- After the committee has reviewed your appeal, you will receive a decision by email within approximately one week of the committee’s review. The decision will be sent to the email address you used when submitting your appeal.
The committee may make one of the following decisions:
- Deny the appeal and uphold the citation.
- Approve the appeal and waive the citation.
- Reduce the citation to a warning.
Please note: The decision of the Parking Appeals Committee is final.
After the Parking Appeals Committee reviews your appeal, you will receive one of the following decisions:
Appeal Denied
Your appeal was not approved. The citation remains valid, and you are responsible for paying the associated fine.
Appeal Approved (Citation Waived)
Your appeal was approved. The citation has been removed, and no fine is due.
Citation Reduced to a Warning
Your appeal was approved, and the fine has been waived. The citation will remain on your record as a warning, but no payment is required.
Please note: Decisions made by the Parking Appeals Committee are final.
Yes. Purchasing a parking decal after receiving a citation does not dismiss the citation. You are responsible for paying any parking citation issued before your vehicle was properly registered and displaying a valid parking decal.
