The Small Business Development Center at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú (SBDC) is looking for individuals who believe they have the perfect idea for a new business but don’t know where to start or have a business whose sales are flat and can’t keep up with the competition.
For more than 20 years, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú has offered a hands-on learning opportunity for accounting students to prepare individual state and federal income tax returns at no charge to the tax payer through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program which receives grant assistance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) through ImpactAmerica.
R.J. Miller was back at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú this week, sharing real-world advice with business students for the second time since graduating from ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú sixteen years ago.

Longtime ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú business professor Dr. Uchenna Akpom was recently named director of the University’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Rural Business program. The first of its kind degree program was introduced two years ago at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú and features relevant courses that focus on critical issues as well as strategies and solutions related to rural businesses and designed to offer innovative solutions to global rural business challenges.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s College of Business will welcome alumnus Brad Bolton to campus on Feb. 22. Bolton is chairman of the Independent Community of Bankers of America (ICBA) and will speak to students and guests in Bridges Auditorium at Wallace Hall. The talk is open to the community.
As silly as it may seem, the reason Dr. Veronica Triplett is an institution at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú can be traced to a long-forgotten item tucked inside a storage space in her family’s new home.
Income tax form

For two decades, accounting students at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú have participated in a federal program that assists low-income and disabled workers file their tax returns.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is set to launch its latest doctoral degree program with the rural doctorate of business administration, which has been approved by the university’s accrediting bodies, with classes beginning in August of this year.
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú accounting students will offer free income tax help until April 15 through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program sponsored by the IRS.
