The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú (ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú) Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Todd G. Fritch as the next president of the institution.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú was recently honored with the 2024 Achievement Award for Internal Information/Educational Programs from the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers (AACE).
A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú, its namesake the parents of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú President Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s proposal to freeze tuition for the seventh consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees at their June quarterly meeting. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is opening its doors to Birmingham-Southern College students by offering transfer assistance through academic and housing scholarships.
To encourage safety on the road before the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s spring break, March 25 through 29, the University Police Department is offering two events: a tire change instructional clinic Wednesday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m. and an impaired driving and Fatal Vision® presentation Thursday, March 21 beginning at 6 p.m. that lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Visual artist Garland Farwell kicked off a year-long artist-residency, Monday, Feb. 19 at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s Julia Tutwiler Library, with a folk-art exhibit of hex signs, a uniquely American art form and best-known symbol of the Pennsylvania Dutch, interpreted through an African American, southern and rural lens.
This year, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú community is commemorating the MLK holiday on Monday, Jan. 15, at 2:30 p.m. in collaboration with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Pi Delta Chapter of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú's Office of Diversity and Inclusion alongside FBC of Livingston.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú has recorded its highest enrollment in university history for the fall of 2023, with total enrollment at 6,195. The nearly-six percent increase from the previous fall represents both on-campus and online enrollment, ranging from freshman undergraduate through doctoral degree students.
