International Programs News

The impetus for Dr. Thomas Saile’s 5,000-mile journey from southeast Germany to the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is steeped in academic cooperation between institutions separated by international borders and the Atlantic Ocean. But it also carries a simplistic twist.
The short-term, faculty-led ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú in Ireland program began in 2018 as a cost-effective way to broaden the university’s global reach and create a study-abroad option that featured neither language barriers nor exorbitant costs for students because of the compressed schedule, Riser said.

Campus dining options at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú don’t normally include Samovar-brewed Russian teas, dalgona candies from Korea, French crepes or street-style Asian fusion delicacies.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is partnering with an exchange program to bring two students from Germany to study at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. The program seeks families within a one hour driving distance of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s campus in Livingston who wish to host a German student for the 2019-2020 school year. Anyone who is interested in serving as a host should sign up for the opportunity by June 28.
A group from the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú explored the historic Fort Tombecbe recently to learn more about Sumter County’s French history. The tour was part of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú International Programs Year of France series. A picnic on the grounds and tour of the archaeological site was led by site director Dr. Ashley Dumas.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s International Programs will host its annual Chinese New Year Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Bell Conference Center on campus, beginning at 6 p.m.
