The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú conferred honorary doctorates upon Alabama Rep. Artis J. "A.J." McCampbell and Sen. Bobby D. Singleton during summer commencement exercises on August 14. Each received the Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, in recognition of distinguished public service, commitment to educational opportunity, and leadership on behalf of the people and communities of Alabama's Black Belt.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is set to launch its latest doctoral degree program with the rural doctorate of business administration, which has been approved by the university’s accrediting bodies, with classes beginning in August of this year.
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Spring 2021 Commencement

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will honor more than 700 graduates during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 8. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at Tiger Stadium on the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú campus.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú accounting students will offer free income tax help until April 15 through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program sponsored by the IRS.
Lift Every Voice and Sing Discussion ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will host Dr. Timothy Askew, professor of English and humanities at Clark Atlanta University, for a virtual event in commemoration of Black History Month. The event is co-sponsored by ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú CARES. There is no cost to participate, and the virtual event is open to the public. 

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú has announced nearly 650 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Fall 2020 academic semester.
The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú has announced plans for honoring summer and fall graduates at commencement exercises on Dec. 12, with ceremonies held in a hybrid format to allow graduates’ families and friends to watch live online.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú professor and athletic trainer Dr. R.T. Floyd has just published a new edition of a textbook that has come to serve as a cornerstone of athletic training, physical education and health science curricula across the nation.

2020 University Retirement Honorees
Each spring, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú recognizes its retiring faculty and staff in a formal ceremony with family, friends, and colleagues. Like many events of 2020, the ceremony could not be held this spring due to health and safety restrictions related to gathering on campus.
In its ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú is offering more relief to students by returning a portion of student fees from the fall semester. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will be reimbursed up to $300 for previously paid student activity and student athletic fees.
